      Short version: We collect only what we need to serve you, we never sell your information, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. This policy complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.

CraftConnect SA is a digital enablement agency owned and operated by Julius Maritz, based in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa. We provide website design, digital marketing, social media management, and Google Business Profile services to South African small businesses.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect and process the following personal information:

Contact information: Name, phone number (including WhatsApp), email address
Business information: Business name, type, location, and digital presence details you share with us
Communication records: WhatsApp conversations, emails, and form submissions
Website usage data: If Google Analytics is active, we collect anonymised data such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region (not precise location). No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as identity numbers, financial account details, or health information) unless explicitly required for a specific service and with your express consent.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information only for the following purposes:

To respond to your enquiry and provide a quotation or recommendation
To deliver the services you have contracted us for
To communicate project updates, deliverables, and feedback requests
To send invoices and process payments (via Yoco — see Section 6)
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements

We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing, do not add you to email lists without consent, and do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (POPIA)

Under POPIA, we process your personal information on the following grounds:

Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the services you have requested
Legitimate interest: Responding to your enquiry and maintaining business records
Legal compliance: Record-keeping as required by South African tax and business law
Consent: Any other processing, including analytics, is done with your consent

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. For active clients, this is the duration of our relationship plus a reasonable period after. For enquiries that did not result in a project, we retain records for up to 12 months.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party tools which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

Domains.co.za — website hosting. Your website data is stored on South African servers.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or loss. Websites hosted by CraftConnect SA are secured with free SSL certificates (HTTPS), and business communications are conducted over secure channels.

8. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
Object to the processing of your personal information
Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
